Botox & Fillers Q&A

What are Botox® and fillers?

Botox® (short for botulinum toxin) helps soften your expression by relaxing small, specific muscles. It’s a purified protein that’s particularly effective if you want to smooth the expression lines you get from repeated muscle movements like frowning, squinting, or raising your eyebrows.

If you want to add volume, smooth lines, or enhance facial contours, your provider may recommend dermal fillers. These gel-like substances are most commonly made of hyaluronic acid, which your body naturally produces, and work by restoring structure and hydration under the skin.

What aesthetic concerns can Botox and fillers address?

Botox can help with many common concerns, including:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines between the brows (“11s”)
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Bunny lines on the nose
  • A gummy smile
  • Jaw clenching or facial tension (in some cases)
  • Fillers can help with:
  • Smile lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Marionette lines (from the corners of the mouth downward)
  • Lip volume or definition
  • Cheek contour and lift
  • Under-eye hollows
  • Jawline or chin definition

Good filler work should look natural and balanced, like a well-rested version of you.

What happens during Botox and filler appointments?

An initial consultation goes over your goals, concerns, and medical history, and Jessica looks at how your face moves and rests.

During the treatment, she’ll clean your skin and may also numb it for your comfort. Botox typically feels like quick pinches. Fillers can feel like pressure or mild stinging.

Jessica administers Botox or fillers with a very fine needle into targeted muscles or shape and support areas. The whole process usually takes 15-45 minutes.

Afterward, you might have slight redness, swelling, or tiny bumps that fade quickly. Most people can immediately return to work.

Botox results gradually appear over 3-14 days, and filler results are often visible right away, with refinement as swelling settles.

How often should I schedule Botox and filler appointments?

Jessica customizes your treatment schedule and may generally suggest Botox follow-ups every 3-4 months, depending on your metabolism. Regular treatments can sometimes help prolong results.

Filler frequency depends on the area (areas with a lot of movement, such as your lips, wear down faster), but your results should last 6 months to 2 years.

Jessica reassesses you at each visit, and beautiful maintenance doesn’t always mean adding more. To discuss your goals, book a consultation online or call MediVerse Health & Wellness today.
